OUR PROGRAMS

OVERVIEW

  Sweet P Bakery’s 10 week training programs will take place in an accommodating environment where students gain hands-on work experience and training. We supply each student with support and assistance as the training sessions demand. Each student will begin with enrollment in Baking 1 and after successful completion can move on to Baking 2.

Student Supported Employment

Sweet P Bakery will offer competitive employment opportunities to students capable of doing work independently. The staff will maintain contact and follow-up services and provide training for any new responsibilities added to the job. Wages paid for these student positions are provided by Sweet P Bakery and are usually at or above minimum wage.

Community Preparedness Opportunities

As an integral part of the learning process, we offer experiences to garner useful skills to take with them out into the community. With the help of staff, students gain experience working within a team and independently, learn new skills and work towards mastering them, and gain confidence in the work they are doing.  Our goal is to help engage students in social interactions and aquire skills that can further enhance their independence. Each day, students will have the opportunity to participate in activities designed to stimulate their minds as well as their senses.

Community Preparedness Opportunities

With the help of staff, students are exposed to expressing themselves in a professional manner to be able to work in any industry. Our goal is to help engage student in social interactions, money exchange, customer service and dining skills further enhancing their independence. Each day, students will have the opportunity to participate in special activities designed to stimulate their minds as well as their senses.

Curriculum

Course Descriptions

Eligibility: Must be 18 years of age or older

Baking 1 (Foundations)

New class TBD

• 10-week program
• Tuesday + Wednesday
• 9:00am -12:00pm

Includes learning safety, measurement, use of equipment and preparation of baked goods. Also includes working on “soft” skills development such as problem-solving, communication, team work and professionalism.

INTERNSHIP

New class TBD

This is the last section of the training course. Students must have successfully completed Baking 2.

This class is for students who have successfully completed Baking 1 and includes learning how to make all the products we will be serving in our retail bakery.

* Students must graduate from our Baking 1 program before taking Baking 2
